Chocolate Pear Custard
Chocolate Pear Custard
This is a great way to get fruit and calcium together in one tasty package
Ingredients
2 Tbsp custard powder
2 Tbsp cocoa
3 Tbsp Sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 cup Milk
425g can pears in juice
1 Tbsp butter
1/2 tsp vanilla
Method
1. Mix the custard powder, cocoa and sugar together thoroughly in a medium-sized pot. Add the egg, milk, and all the liquid from the cans of pears. Stir everything together until there are no lumps.
2. Cook the mixture over fairly low heat, stirring it all the time. When it's hot enough to melt the butter, you can add it in, along with the vanilla.
3. Keep cooking until the pudding darkens, thickens and bubbles around the edge. Take it off the heat and let it cool.
4. Cut the pears into slices, and serve them in dished with custard on top, or on the side.

Tip!
Letting the pudding cool with a plastic bag on the surface will stop a 'skin' forming on the top.
